BURGLARY AT BUSINESS
 Police are investigating a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of July 28th.. Officers were called to the business in the 100 block of E. Sellers Ave. at 8:03 a.m.. The rear door appeared to have been forced open and the cash drawer and some cash was reported missing. Police believe the burglary occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.. Anyone with information is asked to call Ridley Park Police.

 


 
HANDICAPPED RAMPS BEING PUT IN AROUND BOROUGH

You may have noticed numerous intersections are having work done to them. This is PENNDOT re-doing any intersection curbing that is not in compliance with the ADA, for wheelchair ramps. This also is part of upgrades all along Chester Pike between Eddystone and Darby Borough, to have all new traffic lights installed. The new lights will be LED technology, and be synced to each other to make traffic flow better. Work will continue throughout the summer months.

PASSING OF GEORGE W. HILL, FORMER SUPERINTENDENT OF DELAWARE COUNTY PRISON

Former Springfield Twp. Police Chief and Superintendent of the Delaware County Prison, George W. Hill passed away on May 19th, 2010 at Sprigfield Hospital. Mr. Hill served as police chief for the Township of Springfield from 1975-1988, and served the people of Springfield from 1955-1988. Mr. Hill was elected Delaware County Sheriff until 1992, when he was named warden of the Prison. Mr. Hill was named superintendent of the prison in 1995. Mr. Hill retired in 2008. Mr. Hill is survived by his daughter, Diane M. Price, son, Thomas M. Matys, sister, Helen Hill Jensen, brother, Sam Hill, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild. He was the widower of Wanda H. Kacprzyk Hill who died in 2008. The Ridley Park Police Department wished to extend its condolences to the Hill family.


 
Rescue 911 story of Prospect Park Police Officer shot July 27, 1989

Prospect Park Officer Bill Nicholas was shot in the leg on July 27, 1989 while attempting to subdue a male who was stripping a car. Here is the video from the show Rescue 911. Ridley Park Police Sgt. Harry Snyder is featured in the program,  he may look a little different than he does today..
